Roastery Supervisor

Garage Coffee Roasters is a speciality coffee business with stores across East Kent. We source and roast high grade, speciality coffee and serve through our shops and wholesale partners.

We are looking for a new team member at our roastery site to help fulfil our busy production schedule and to support our coffee shop operation. This is a dual role, with both front of house and production duties.

The Role

Hours: 40 hours per week

Days of work: 5 days per week (across the 7 days of the week)

Location: Garage Coffee Roasters, Calcott Oast, Calcott Hill, Sturry, CT3 4ND

Pay: £12.78 per hour

Closing Date: Friday 25 April

Start Date: ASAP

What you’ll be doing:  

  • Preparing online and wholesale orders for dispatch to a very high standard

  • Working alongside the Roastery Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the shop and the roastery. This will include developing coffee skills within the team, ordering, stock rotation and housekeeping standards

  • Lead shifts and give instruction to the team to ensure the smooth running of the coffee shop

  • Deputising for the Roastery Manager on operational tasks eg. ordering, stock rotation, cleaning duties

  • Adhering to any health and safety requirements and maintaining a clean and tidy FOH and BOH

  • Be the first point of contact when liaising with and providing support to our white label customers

  • Assisting the Roastery Manager with production roasting of our coffees throughout the week

  • Conduct weekly stock takes and inventory replenishment of our wholesale and retail products

  • Oversee inventory management for packaging supplies, such as bags, labels, and shipping materials

  • Weighing and preparing green beans for roasting

  • Assisting or taking the lead on roaster servicing and maintenance

  • A willingness to represent Garage Coffee at events and markets as and when required

What you need- the must haves:  

  • Strong organisational skills

  • At least 12 months experience in a hospitality/customer-facing role

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure

  • Some knowledge of shipping, fulfilment or online shop software (Shipstation/Shopify)

  • Roasting experience preferable

  • Be a keen team player who can take direction but also use own initiative

  • A passion for coffee (particularly speciality)

  • To adhere to any health and safety requirements and maintain a clean and tidy workspace at all time

  • Be someone who enjoys organisation & attention to detail

  • Be motivated to learn and develop your skills

  • Be enthusiastic and willing to adapt to different situations

  • Great communication skills with a ‘can-do’ team attitude

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise and think critically
