General Manager- Canterbury
Garage Coffee Roasters is a speciality coffee business with stores across East Kent. We source and roast high grade, speciality coffee and serve through our shops and wholesale partners.
We are looking for an excellent Manager for our Canterbury store. Located in the heart of the city, surrounded by cobbled streets, Canterbury is the home of our first ever retail outlet so we are a very well known presence in town.
Hours: 40 hours per week. Some weekdays and some weekend days.
Location: Garage Coffee Roasters, 17 Sun Street, Canterbury, CT1 2HX
Pay: £28,600.00 per annum
Closing Date: 15/05/2025
Start Date: ASAP
What you’ll be doing:
To be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the shop, maintaining excellent front and back of house standards
Line managing FOH retail staff
Delivering great customer service & inspiring those around you
Sharing Garage Coffee’s mission & vision with customers and staff
Training, encouraging and motivating the team to hit targets and serve the best quality product
Maintain good awareness and control of stock, minimising wastage but ensuring the shops are always fully stocked
Supporting the Operations Manager in their role and complete all tasks set
Delegating tasks to other members of staff, to ensure smooth day to day running of the shop
Taking a lead in making sure staff are always consistent in their coffee standards, assisting in their upskilling and communicating any coaching needs to the Coffee Coach
Taking a lead in the execution of our savoury food offering, supporting the rest of the team to deliver it with care & quality
Managing stock orders, ensuring you always get the best price and product
Effectively communicating with upline, making sure issues and queries are dealt with efficiently
Closely monitoring and being responsible for sales targets for your shop. Thinking of innovative ways to increase sales, and respond to the ever-changing customer demand
Maintain good relationships with customers and key contacts
At Garage we are one team, one dream so from time-to-time you may be asked to pitch in with other duties that are not directly related to your job description for example Roastery related tasks.
What you need- the must haves:
To adhere to any health and safety requirements and maintain clean and tidy coffee shops at all time
Must have a passion for speciality coffee!
At least one year of working in a Supervisor or Manager role in hospitality
A passion for working with people
Be enthusiastic and adaptable, being ready to lead and inspire others
Great communication skills with a ‘can-do’ team attitude
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise and think critically.
Excellent organisational skills, taking pride in ensuring the smooth running of the shops
